This first version provides only a generic implementation of
wxBitmapBundle using a collection of bitmaps and only supports using it
in wxToolBar in wxMSW and wxGTK.
More methods of creating wxBitmapBundle will be provided later and more
functions taking wxBitmap will be changed to take wxBitmapBundle later
too and, of course, all the other ports will be updated to use the new
API too.
Unlike the existing wxHAS_IMAGES_IN_RESOURCES constant defined only
under MSW, the new one is also defined under Mac and could be defined
for the other platforms/ports later (e.g. wxQt could probably support it
too).
It's unfortunate that two very similar constants are needed, but it
doesn't seem wise to change the meaning of the existing constant, as
this would change how the commonly used wxICON() and wxBITMAP() macros
behave and would break all our own samples that use them for their frame
icon but don't embed this icon into the bundle resources under Mac.
Do change the toolbar sample to use the new constant however, as this
one does include the bitmaps it uses in its bundle under Mac.
Update the sample for the 21st century (with just a bit of delay) and
use PNGs under all platforms instead of using BMPs under MSW and XPMs
elsewhere.
Copy PNG icons from Tango, even if we already have almost of them in
art/tango because we plan to also use "2x" versions of them in this
sample soon.
Avoid allocating too much space to the control in the toolbar, it may
have been made smaller than its best size on purpose and, in any case,
we don't resize the control, so it's useless to allocate more space to
it than it's going to use.
See #18294.
Pass wxStrings directly to wxString::Format("%s") and similar
pseudo-vararg functions, there is no need for c_str() there since
wxWidgets 2.9.

There were added two menu items (under 'Tools' menu) to modify current tool spacing.
This way is possible to test SetToolPacking/GetToolPacking methods.
Windows CE doesn't seem to be supported by Microsoft any longer. Last CE
release was in early 2013 and the PocketPC and Smartphone targets supported by
wxWidgets are long gone.
The build files where already removed in an earlier cleanup this commit
removes all files, every #ifdef and all documentation regarding the Windows CE
support.
Closes https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/pull/81
Added messages to show that Copy tool intentionally influences Print tool and
Cut tool influences Help tool, as this is rather unexpected behaviour and
could be seen as a bug.
This ensures that the messages always appear in the correct order, even if the
user clicked somewhere in the middle of the control -- which would previously
result in inserting the next message at the cursor position, not the end.
Ensure that the count of the Print tools is always correct, even if more tools
were inserted and then the toolbar was recreated (in a different position).
This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

This symbol is not used since a very long time as XPM support is now always
available in wxMSW and most of its occurrences were removed almost 10 years
ago, just remove the remaining ones too.

Add a special symbol which is defined only if the icons and other images (e.g.
cursor) are in the separate resource files and don't need to be embedded as
XPMs in the main program.
This makes the checks more clear and more customizable as it's enough to
change wxHAS_IMAGES_IN_RESOURCES definition instead of changing many platform
checks.

Additionally renamed wxOSX' private wxNativePrinterDC::Ok() function to IsOk().
Didn't deprecate the various Ok() functions: given the amount of changes already introduced in 3.0 a trivial one like this seems more suitable for after 3.0.

It is definitely not necessary to call SetTopWindow() when there is only a
single top level window and it is arguable whether it's useful to do it even
when there are many of them so don't encourage its use in the documentation
and also remove all its occurrences from the samples.

There are no real changes in this commit but it removes all trailing white
space from our source files. This avoids problems when applying patches and
making diffs and it would be nice to prevent it from reappearing.

Standardize on using sample.rc and sample icon in all the samples, it was
confusing that some of them used it and other didn't, without any apparent
logic.
Remove the now unnecessary icon files, including the dialogs sample icon which
seemed to be corrupted (this closes#11146).
Also replace multiple OS/2 resource files with a single one in the sample
directory. The OS/2 projects/makefiles would need to be updated to use them.
Remove dialogs sample icon.

The code in wxFrameBase::SetToolBar() didn't work correctly when toolbar was
unset using SetToolBar(NULL) because the frame toolbar pointer was reset
before layout was done resulting in the frame not recognizing its (still
existing) toolbar child as one of its bars and so nothing was done at all when
the frame had a single child, as in the toolbar sample.
Correct this by carefully ensuring that the toolbar pointer is still set at
the moment of the layout but hide the toolbar to ensure that no place is
allocated for it.
Also mention that it is not necessary to call SetToolBar(NULL) at all if the
toolbar is being deleted anyhow in the sample as toolbar does this itself in
its destructor.

Handling erase background events for toolbars never worked for the ports other
than wxMSW and now it doesn't work for MSW neither as we need to skip erasing
the background in WM_ERASEBKGND handler to avoid flicker which would result
from erasing the background twice, from there and from WM_PAINT handler which
must do it. So don't even try to test if it works, it's unlikely to be very
useful anyhow.
This reverts the change to this file in r62805.

Stretchable spaces consume all extra toolbar space not allocated to the fixed
size items. They can in particular be used to right-align (some) toolbar tools.
Add and document the new API, change the sample to show it and implement it
for MSW, GTK and OS X/Cocoa.
Also refactor MSW background erasing/repainting code to avoid duplicated calls
to DrawThemeBackground(), call it from a new helper MSWEraseRect() function.
Note that we may want to add support for "invisible" separators, IOW
non-stretchable spaces. This could be easily done for MSW after the changes in
this commit and is supported natively by GTK+ and Cocoa so implementing this
would be trivial if there is any interest.

Remove the test which prevented the generation of erase background events from
wxMSW::wxWindow::HandleEraseBkgnd(). Although it is true that native controls
mostly erase background on their own, there are exceptions: we must erase the
background of wxToolBar ourselves, for example. More importantly, there is no
reason to prevent the user code from defining wxEVT_ERASE_BACKGROUND handlers
for the native controls as this works just fine under MSW (although it doesn't
under GTK nor probably other ports...). So also add a test erase background
handler to the toolbar sample to verify that this does work.
