dd23d7dcd2 Merge branch 'safe-show-message'
Show message box from wxSafeShowMessage() in the other ports too, if
possible.

Currently this is done using wxMessageBox() if it can be sure that it's
safe to call and only MSW uses native function which is always safe to
call. Ideal would be to also use a native function under Mac, where it
should also be the case, but this doesn't seem to work for whichever
reason.

fce8780297 Add 64-bit integers support to wxConfig
Serialize them to strings in wxFileConfig, just as we always did for

3f2c84d4a9 Add 64-bit numbers support to wxRegKey
This uses the native registry support for 64-bit values available since
Windows XP.

Note that SetValue64() can't be just called SetValue() as this would
introduce ambiguities when writing an int or an enum to the registry.
This could be avoided by providing overloads for all the arithmetic
types, but it's arguably better to be more clear about what exactly is
being written to the registry in this low-level class and using a
different name is definitely simpler.

eb33447c39 Use template function to avoid code duplication in wxRegConfig
Don't repeat exactly the same code for 3 different types, just use a
template function instead.

Change the existing TryGetValue() helpers to take all output parameters
consistently by pointer, rather than taking only long by pointer and the
other by reference. This allows to isolate the inconsistency of the type
of wxRegKey::QueryValue() parameter in a single place here, hiding it
from the rest of wxRegConfig code.

Add an extra unit test for writing/reading longs to/from wxRegConfig.

e00d5e131b Use new wxAppTraits::SafeMessageBox() in wxSafeShowMessage()
This allows to show message boxes in ports other than wxMSW too by doing
it only when it is safe, i.e. when the GUI is initialized, while still
keeping the old code directly using the native MessageBox() function for
MSW for maximal robustness.

39883a270a Disable main window when showing msgbox in wxSafeShowMessage()
Pass correct parent HWND to ::MessageBox() in order to disable the
window while the message box is shown, as this function is supposed to
be similar to modal wxMessageBox() and it was unexpected that the
application could be reentered via the event handlers from inside it.

This required adding wxAppTraits::GetMainHWND() in order to only use the
HWND in GUI applications from the function defined in non-GUI code.

0728262640 Provide descriptions for WinHTTP error messages
Just the error code is not very useful as it doesn't say anything about
what exactly failed, e.g. seeing "The buffers supplied to a function was
too small." doesn't help understanding which function was passed a too
small buffer, so add an extra parameter to SetFailed[WithLastError]() to
log this information too.

Also log the error code itself, because SEC_E_BUFFER_TOO_SMALL is
arguably more clear than its ungrammatical error message.

No real changes.

b53f7ac904 Restore support for using faster dotted pens in wxMSW
Changes of d245dc9e1f (Fix drawing of dotted lines with wxDC in wxMSW,
2020-03-27) improved the appearance of dotted and dashed lines in wxMSW
but at the expense of significant (up to a factor of 300) slowdown.

Allow the applications for which the drawing performance is important to
explicitly request the old behaviour, with uglier, but faster, pens by
choosing to use low quality pens.

Update the graphics benchmark to allow specifying the pen quality and
verify that the performance when using it is the same as before 3.1.4.

d1810b0dce Remove setup0.h files
Simplify things by putting setup.h files themselves under version
control and getting rid of setup0.h ones.

The initial motivation for using separate setup0.h files was to allow
having local changes to setup.h, but with Git there is a simple way to
do it by using "git update-index --skip-worktree include/wx/msw/setup.h"
for example, so we don't really need setup0.h any more and dropping them
makes things simpler.

0d04792116 Show full text in single line MSW wxTextCtrl if possible
A single line MSW wxTextCtrl created with a value too long to fit into
it continued showing the value only partially even if its size was
subsequently increased to allow the entire value to be shown.

This apparently happens because changing the native EDIT control size
doesn't affect its (horizontal) scroll offset. Moreover, there doesn't
seem to be any way to explicitly tell the control to update it neither,
except for changing its text.

So do change its text every time its width changes, as long as it is not
visible (because visible jumps in the visible text position could be an
even worse problem than the one we're trying to solve here). This fixes
the originally reported bug at the cost of a bunch of extra calls to
DoWriteText() which should hopefully be not too expensive for single
line controls that don't typically contain that much text.

Closes #18268.

bc825de1fe Simplify and make more robust wxWebViewEdge initialization
Get rid of ms_isInitialized as it must be kept synchronized with
ms_loaderDll.IsLoaded() anyhow, and it's simpler to not have it at all
rather than ensuring this.

Also ensure that calling Initialize() again, after doing it first
unsuccessfully, doesn't assert because ms_loaderDll is already loaded,
by only leaving it with a valid handle if the initialization succeeded.

508a4f6ca8 Fix Cancel() semantics under MSW and other improvements to it
Under MSW, don't set the state to State_Cancelled as soon as Cancel()
was called, as the request was still used from the other threads
afterwards, resulting in race conditions and crashes.

Fix this by just removing the SetState(State_Cancelled) call from the
main thread, as it was redundant anyhow. This also makes the behaviour
correspond to the documentation, which indicates that Cancel() works
asynchronously.

Also ensure, for all backends, that we actually cancel the request only
once, even if public Cancel() is called multiple times. This required
renaming the existing wxWebRequestImpl::Cancel() to DoCancel().

5d256988be Add wxMSWFormatMessage() and use it from other places
Don't duplicate calls to ::FormatMessage(), which is difficult to use
correctly, in wxCrashReport and wxWebRequestWinHTTP, but just reuse the
same code that was already present in wxSysErrorMsgStr() after
refactoring it into a reusable function allowing to specify the module
name to use for the error code lookup (before falling back to
interpreting it as system error code).

This fixes not trimming the trailing "\r\n" from the string in the other
places (wxWinHTTPErrorToString() had code to do it, but it was wrong,
while wxCrashContext::GetExceptionString() didn't do it at all) and
avoids duplication.

c70ac66200 Simplify and make more robust wxWebSessionWinHTTP initialization
Rename Init() to Open() as we need this method to return bool to
indicate its success in order to avoid using non-initialized handle
later. Init() is also reserved, by convention, for the common part of
all class ctors in wx code.

Remove m_initialized entirely, it doesn't seem to be obviously better to
cache the failure to create a session than to retry doing it every time
(in fact, it would seem to be worse) and not having it is simpler.

This commit is best viewed ignoring white space.
