The variables tableColumn and item are unneeded in this class so remove them. Use static_cast<>s instead of C casts. Avoid repeating oneVeryLongVariableName->anotherEvenLongerVariableName-> somethingElse->andSoOn multiple times, temporary variables are allowed in C++.
