4bc67cc550 Update for bitmap, image on scaling, transparancy,

cf7a7e133b It's possible now to save to a PNG. OK, I still 
have performance problems, but it's a start.

c67daf8777 General tidy-up (mainly typecasts) to allow the use of the SGI native
