This ensures that dates are printed out correctly if comparing them
fails.
It might be better to avoid always including this header, but this is
the simplest solution.
wxUIActionSimulator is just too unreliable to be used there, so while
fixing it should really be a priority, for now at least prevent these
spurious failures from masking any other ones, which indicate real
problems that need to be fixed.
Notice that these tests can still be enabled by setting the environment
variable WX_UI_TESTS to 1 (or disabled by setting it to 0 under MSW).
Drop the legacy CppUnit testing framework used for the unit tests.
Replacing it with Catch has the advantage of not requiring CppUnit
libraries to be installed on the system in order to be able to run
tests (Catch is header-only and a copy of it is now included in the
main repository itself) and, in the future, of being able to write
the tests in a much more natural way.
For now, however, avoid changing the existing tests code as much as
[reasonably] possible to avoid introducing bugs in them and provide
the CppUnit compatibility macros in the new wx/catch_cppunit.h header
which allow to preserve the 99% of the existing code unchanged. Some
of the required changes are:
- Decompose asserts using "a && b" conditions into multiple asserts
checking "a" and "b" independently. This would have been better
even with CppUnit (to know which part of condition exactly failed)
and is required with Catch.
- Use extra parentheses around such conditions when they can't be
easily decomposed in the arrays test, due to the use of macros.
This is not ideal from the point of view of messages given when
the tests fail but will do for now.
- Rewrite asserts using "a || b" as a combination of condition
checks and assert macros. Again, this is better anyhow, and is
required with Catch. Incidentally, this allowed to fix a bug in
the "exec" unit test which didn't leave enough time for the new
process to be launched before trying to kill it.
- Remove multiple CPPUNIT_TEST_SUITE_NAMED_REGISTRATION() macros,
our emulation of this macro can be used only once.
- Provide string conversions using Catch-specific StringMaker for
a couple of types.
- Replace custom wxImage comparison with a Catch-specific matcher
class.
- Remove most of test running logic from test.cpp, in particular don't
parse command line ourselves any longer but use Catch built-in
command line parser. This is a source of a minor regression:
previously, both "Foo" and "FooTestCase" could be used as the name of
the test to run, but now only the latter is accepted.
Destroying a window with mouse capture results in an assert, which is
translated into an exception when running the test suite. As this exception is
thrown from wxWindowBase dtor, it results in an immediate program termination
when using C++11 and can also have the same effect even when using C++98 if
this exception is thrown while already handling another exception due to a
test failure.
Try to avoid this by using a "safe" DeleteTestWindow() function instead of
deleting the window directly. Currently this function ensures that the window
doesn't have mouse capture before deleting it, but it could also be used to
check for other things later. Also, this commit only uses this function for
the two controls which do happen to be destroyed with mouse capture currently
(at least when using wxGTK), but it should probably be generalized to all
controls in the future.
Don't support this compiler any more, this allows to get rid of tons of
MSVC6-specific workarounds, in particular we can now use Bind() and natural
template functions calls in the library code.
Also remove MSVC6 project and solution files and don't generate them when
bakefile_gen is ran any more (removing the remaining occurrences of msvc6prj
from the bakefiles results in weird bake-time errors, so it's simpler to just
leave them there).

It was based on a completely erroneous assumption that setlocale() returns the
locale that had been previously active when it actually returns the newly set
locale.
This fixes unit test failures in StringTestCase under OS X, as the locale
wasn't correctly restored by DateTimeTestCase that used this class.

This allows to easily test if we're running on a buildbot slave and disable
some difficult to debug test failures there.

Move USING_VC_CRT into testprec.h to allow its reuse in other files and rename
it to wxUSING_VC_CRT_IO as it only checks whether we're using MSVC STDIO
implementation and could be false even when we are otherwise using MSVC CRT.
Use this symbol for the tests whose result depends on the concrete version of
the CRT we use.
This fixes StringTestCase::FromDouble() failure under MinGW.

This test fails for MinGW, probably because its CRT doesn't use the same
locale names as MSVC CRT. Just disable it for now, as it was already disabled
for non-MSW platforms.
Also use LocaleSetter class (extracted from CLocaleSetter) to change the
locale for this test duration only to avoid affecting any tests running after
it.

This macro can be used to easily register a test following a standard naming
convention in both the global test suite and the test suite with the same name
as this test instead of having to use 2 different cppunit macros to do the
same thing.

Add a lot of tests for many wx GUI classes.
Add tests using the new wxUIActionSimulator class but disable them under OS X
as too many of them currently fail there.
Refactor the test suite to make organizing the existing tests and adding the
new ones easier.
Improve documentation using the information gathered while testing the
classes. Also update the documentation of the testing system itself.
