Not creating it when the default image wasn't found resulted in a crash,
so always create wxStaticBitmap using a fallback bitmap if necessary.
Also add a wxCHECK_RET to prevent the crash from happening in a similar
situation in the future.
Previously this was done only for wxSearchCtrl, extend this now to all
the widgets in order to be able to check whether the expected events are
generated.
Still use Connect() in unit tests which were written explicitly for it
and in EventConnector, which can't use Bind() as it uses a variable for
the event type.
No real changes, just use the newer and more convenient function.
The entire control is hidden until the dialog is resized.
This seems to be caused by (recent changes in) the wxPersistentManager.
This is fixed by populating the frame before restoring persistence.
(as is described in docs/doxygen/overviews/persistence.h.)
The size of wxBookCtrl pages is determined by wxBookCtrl and can't be
changed, yet the sample tried to do it, making them larger than the
actually available space and cutting them off as the result.
Just stop doing this and simply layout the page using the available
space -- if there is not enough of it, that's too bad, but the user can
always resize the main window in this case.
See #4379.
Don't rely on wx/treebook.h pulling in wx/treectrl.h and wx/textctrl.h,
forward declare or include the headers declaring the classes from these
headers explicitly where needed.
This prevented them from being used for their usual purposes, e.g. F4
didn't open the combobox dropdown under MSW, which was annoying as it
made testing more difficult.
Just stop using the accelerators, especially as they could be only used
for less than half of pages anyhow.
Call DoUseCustomAutoComplete() function instead of using an artificial
event.
Also move the menu item in the radio group with the other
autocomplete-related commands as it's exclusive with them.
Windows CE doesn't seem to be supported by Microsoft any longer. Last CE
release was in early 2013 and the PocketPC and Smartphone targets supported by
wxWidgets are long gone.
The build files where already removed in an earlier cleanup this commit
removes all files, every #ifdef and all documentation regarding the Windows CE
support.
Closes https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/pull/81
Ensure that the various attributes (colours, font, border, ...) are preserved
when a widget is recreated or the current page is changed. This is more
convenient and also avoids discrepancies between the state of the menu items
and the actual state of the widget.

Get rid of the rest of __WXCOCOA__ tests in the sources.
Drop configure option for using it.
Also remove the documentation for this port.
This should have also been part of r76735.

This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

Implement it for the native MSW and GTK versions and the generic one used in
the other ports and also for wxSpinCtrlDouble under MSW.
Also test this function in the spin page of the widgets sample.

As we already had MSW-specific AutoCompleteFileNames(), we can just as well
also add the also useful AutoCompleteDirectories() to be used with the text
controls used for path entry.

Additionally renamed wxOSX' private wxNativePrinterDC::Ok() function to IsOk().
Didn't deprecate the various Ok() functions: given the amount of changes already introduced in 3.0 a trivial one like this seems more suitable for after 3.0.

Allow overriding either the iterator-like methods of the base class or the
single and possibly more convenient, albeit slightly less efficient, method of
the derived wxTextCompleterSimple class.
This makes it possible to completely delegate to wxTextCompleter from wxMSW
IEnumString implementation and actually makes the code there easier, even if
it it still not quite trivial because of multi-threading concerns.
It also would make it possible to show the completions progressively, as they
are retrieved, in a future generic implementation of auto-completion (MSW
native implementation doesn't do this unfortunately and waits until all of the
completions become available before showing them).

Add wxTextCompleter class which allows to return the possible completions
dynamically and wxTextCompleter::AutoComplete() overload using it. So far this
is only implemented for wxMSW.
Also fix calling wxTextEntry::AutoComplete(wxArrayString) multiple times under
MSW, this didn't correctly update the list of shown completions before.

Use "wxWindows licence" and not "wxWidgets licence" (the latter doesn't
exist) and consistently spell "licence" using British spelling.

In practice names are not often used so typically whenever you want to make a
window settings persistent you also need to set its name and the it's
convenient to let a single function do both tasks, so add an overload taking
the name string (this is a separate function instead of optional parameter to
avoid compilation errors if this is ever used with non-wxWindow-derived
objects which don't have SetName() method).
Also expand the documentation slightly and add @since tags.
git-svn-id: https://svn.wxwidgets.org/svn/wx/wxWidgets/trunk@64887 c3d73ce0-8a6f-49c7-b76d-6d57e0e08775
Check for the transparency of the window background in MSWGetBgBrush() itself
and let MSWGetBgBrushForChild() just return the brush to be used.
This required adding a MSW-specific hack to wxPanel to allow inheriting
background of wxNotebook by its children which is slightly ugly but is exactly
what we need to do in this case and makes the rest of the code much simpler.
Also add a possibility to set the background of the page containing the
control being tested to the widgets sample to test for background inheritance.
This shows problems with wxSlider and wxRadioBox backgrounds but they're not
new with this patch.

Add a function which can be overridden to return an arbitrary number of
widgets instead of having just GetWidget() and GetWidget2(): spin control page
already uses 3 widgets (and defines GetWidget3() which is never called) and we
could have even more in the future. Just use a generic solution which will
always work.
The practical consequence of this is that the "Enable/Disable" menu item now
also enables and disables the wxSpinCtrlDouble in the spin page, see #12045.
