7e521b01c3 Added UpdateSize to wxSplitterWindow, to allow an app 
to force pane resizing _before_ showing the window.
Added a call to UpdateSize from helpfrm.cpp. Without
this, the flicker is horrible.

6dc863c78f When a directory can't accessed, don't assert, return false 
from wxDir and give a suppressable error message. This fixes
problems reading e.g. .vol directories.
