97e5a1969f Remove check of eof() return value validity. 
It's useless and resulted in a warning from Coverity as it correctly
determined that this code could never be executed under Unix.

5fd78a8e6f Fix warning about signed/unsigned comparison in wxFile::ReadAll(). 
Compare ssize_t value with another ssize_t value instead of size_t one to
avoid warnings.

06a086e8d2 Fix fatal bug in the recently added wxFile::ReadAll(). 
Make sure we exit the loop when reading the file in chunks in
wxFile::ReadAll() and add a unit test for it to ensure that it's really
correct.

Closes #14725.

614108e211 Added wxFile::ReadAll() for consistency with wxFFile::ReadAll(). 
Make it possible to use wxFFile and wxFile interchangeably for simply reading
the entire contents of the file as a string.

2415cf6725 Remove support for MetroWerks CodeWarrior compiler. 
This compiler doesn't exist any more and was probably unsupported even in 2.8,
let alone 2.9, so remove all the __MWERKS__ tests to simplify things.

d98a58c543 Use __WINDOWS__ for OS kind checks and reserve __WXMSW__ for GUI toolkit. 
This change prepares the way for using wxGTK under Windows as this would
still define __WINDOWS__ but use __WXGTK__ instead of __WXMSW__.

Closes #14064.

bd362275b8 Remove Palm OS port. 
The platform targeted by this port doesn't exist any more and the port never
achieved really working state so remove the code to avoid having to maintain
it.

65fe93d8a5 Add wxFile::{Get,Clear}LastError() functions. 
Remember the errno of the last file operation instead of just remembering
whether there was an error or not.

See #12636.

f48a115976 No real changes, just use const_cast<> instead of C casts. 
Replace many comments indicating that the C cast used was really a
const_cast<> with the proper cast itself. There is no reason to not use it any
longer, all the supported compilers understand it.

ae0e22dd7a Compilation fix for ANSI build after r61898. 
wxWX2MBbuf is just char* if wxUSE_UNICODE==0 and so doesn't have a length()
method, use wxString::length() in wxFile::Write() instead.

227989f3e9 Write correct number of bytes in wxFile::Write(wxString). 
This function was broken for conversions using more than one byte per
character (e.g. UTF-16 or UTF-32) and also even for UTF-8 for strings
containing NUL bytes as it used strlen() to determine the number of bytes to
write out instead of using the really needed number.

Fix this by using the wxCharBuffer::length() method which always returns the
correct value.

Also add a wxFile unit test verifying that it can correctly read back a string
written using any of UTF-8, UTF-16 or UTF-32.

Closes #11192.

43b2d5e7c3 Put braces around all calls to wxLogFunctions() inside an if statement. 
This suppresses all the remaining g++ -Wparentheses warnings and uses consistent style everywhere.

af58844636 Add information about the log message generation location to wxLog. 
This means that wxLog::DoLogRecord() can now retrieve the file name, line
number and the function where the message was logged.

An unfortunate consequence of this change is that now

	if ( condition )
		wxLogError("Whatever");

results in a warning from g++ 4.x with -Wparentehses, so extra parentheses had
to be added in many places.

Finally, also allow storing arbitrary attributes in wxLogRecordInfo. This had
to be added to implement our own overloaded wxLogStatus() and wxLogSysError()
and will probably be useful for the others as well.
