Size grip in generic wxStatusBar is only supported in wxGTK as it's
drawn using GTK functions, but this is not really a problem as other
platforms either use native implementations (MSW, Qt) or shouldn't show
size grip anyhow as it looks non-native (Mac).
So just ensure we don't leave space for the grip if it's not shown,
correcting the change of 6c1b2b23cf.
Closes#18469.
Add wx/gtk/private/wrapgtk.h wrapping gtk/gtk.h in pragmas disabling
these warnings and include it everywhere instead of directly including
gtk/gtk.h.
Also include wx/gtk/private/gtk2-compat.h from this wrapper header as it
was included by 90% of the files including gtk/gtk.h itself and it seems
to be better and simpler to just always include it.
Use wx_is_at_least_gtk2(minor) instead of gtk_check_version(2, minor)
because it is more clear and also works as expected (i.e. returns true)
when using GTK+ 3 instead of creating difficult to notice bugs in the
code by failing the version check in this case.
See #18004.
This port is not used and is not being worked on, so remove it to reduce the
amount of the code which needs to be updated for every global change.
Also remove tests for VisualAge compiler which isn't used since ages.

This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

GTK+ applications don't use sunken status bars since many years, do don't do
it in wxWidgets neither by default any more. Add wxSB_SUNKEN style that can be
explicitly used if the old appearance is desired.

This ensures that the value returned from GetFieldRect() is always up to date,
even when this method is called from the user-defined wxEVT_SIZE handler, i.e.
before our own OnSize() could run.
Also remove the now unneeded hack with calling the base class OnSize() from
the statbar sample.

Applied patch by snowleopard2 fixing a bunch of typos such as misspellings and double words in the documentation. Combined the patch with some local queued typos waiting to be committed as well as adding new typo fixes inspired by the patch.
Function names with American spelling were not changed nor was third-party code touched. The only code changes involve some changes in strings that are translated ("Can not" -> "Cannot").

We shouldn't use the same "wxELLIPSIZE_" prefix for two different enums, so
use wxELLIPSIZE_FLAGS one for wxEllipsizeFlags (they should be used less often
than wxEllipsizeMode so it's better to keep the short prefix for the latter).
Also add wxELLIPSIZE_FLAGS_NONE flag.

This commit is huge but there are no non-white-space changes in it.
Some files containing third-party sources (src/msw/wince/time.cpp,

Calls to SetStatusText() in between Push/PopStatusText() were simply lost
before, now the text explicitly changed by SetStatusText() is preserved by the
next call to PopStatusText().
This required adding a new virtual method, called DoUpdateStatusText(), which
is now implemented in all the derived classes instead of overriding
SetStatusText() (on the bright side, it doesn't need to do any checks already
done in the base class any more).
Also fix PushStatusText() to actually show the text being pushed at all under
wxMSW as a side effect.
And further reduce code duplication between wxStatusBarBase and the derived
classes.
