This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

Save the original locale used before we changed it instead of "restoring" the
same locate that this wxLocale object was using.
Add a unit test to verify that this does work as expected.

Don't advise people to use non-existent (or at least not publicly accessible)
wxSetLocale(), they should just create wxLocale objects instead.

If LC_ALL or LC_MESSAGES is set but empty, ignore it and use the next
environment variable. This is consistent with the standard setlocale()
behaviour which only uses LC_ALL if it is set and not empty.

Don't use LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT when the locale hadn't been changed because the
user default locale often (and maybe even always) is different from "C" locale
used by the CRT resulting in mismatch between the conventions used by
wxDateTime::Format(), which uses the CRT locale, and wxDateTime::Parse(),
which uses Windows format. Instead use the hard-coded values corresponding to
the "C" locale to ensure we use the same values as the CRT in this case.
This also reverts r73244 which was applies to make the unit tests pass before
this fix as it's not necessary any longer.

Under wxMSW it's possible to have mismatch between the CRT locale (used by
various printf-related functions) and the system locale (queried by
wxLocale::GetInfo()).
Warn if such a mismatch occurs and tell people to use wxLocale instead of just
setlocale() to change the locale.

The return value of setlocale() was used incorrectly in this code: it
represents the newly set locale and not the previously active one so we didn't
actually restore the original locale before.
Fix the code and check that we do actually restore the locale in a new unit
test for it.

Applied patch by snowleopard2 fixing a bunch of typos such as misspellings and double words in the documentation. Combined the patch with some local queued typos waiting to be committed as well as adding new typo fixes inspired by the patch.
Function names with American spelling were not changed nor was third-party code touched. The only code changes involve some changes in strings that are translated ("Can not" -> "Cannot").

wx incorrectly assumes that Unix locale codes have the form of xx_YY,
where both xx and yy are two characters long. This is wrong, xx is
ISO 639 code, which can often have 3 characters ("ast", "gez" etc.);
future ISO 639-6 will have up to 4 chars. Similarly, ISO 3166 has
alpha-3 variant of country codes too (even though they aren't used in
this context today).
For parsing needs, we can just look for '_' in the code. The only place
where a check for xx_YY code was performed was GetSystemLanguage().
Instead of bothering with correct check (or a heuristic), let's simply
assume locale is xx_YY code and only do alternative handling if that
assumption fails. According to the comments, this alternative handling
was for cases such as LANG=german environment on SuSE, but it's safe to
say that no modern systems do that anymore, so it's OK that this patch
is marginally less efficient on such legacy systems.

Don't use m_translations directly, if the user made changes to
wxTranslations instance, it would be too confusing if calls through
wxLocale compat API did nothing.
Also don't change active wxTranslations object from wxLocale if already
done by user, only call wxTranslations::Set() from wxLocale constructor
if it wasn't already set by the user. Still do if wxTranslations
instance currently in use was set by previous wxLocale on the locale
stack.

wxTranslations is for handling gettext translations. wxLocale manages
locale and provides compatiblity API for translations. Separating these
two loosely related tasks makes it possible to use translations into
languages not known by Windows or using localized GUI without all the
locales compilations.

This doesn't affect Unicode builds, only the legacy ANSI one.
PO files are now always converted to the appropriate charset according
to current locale. This was the default behavior for long time; not
doing the conversion was always a fragile hack that didn't work well.
Removing this flag simplifies wxLocale code.

The implementation was broken in numerous ways. URLs were corrupted in
search paths thanks to use of wxFileName for normalization. Lookup of
catalogs was broken, because ":" in URLs were interpreted as path
separators. Asserts occured because filenames were (incorrectly!)
interpreted as URLs.
Will replace with proper implementation.

This means that wxLog::DoLogRecord() can now retrieve the file name, line
number and the function where the message was logged.
An unfortunate consequence of this change is that now
if ( condition )
wxLogError("Whatever");
results in a warning from g++ 4.x with -Wparentehses, so extra parentheses had
to be added in many places.
Finally, also allow storing arbitrary attributes in wxLogRecordInfo. This had
to be added to implement our own overloaded wxLogStatus() and wxLogSysError()
and will probably be useful for the others as well.
