MS and Apple guidelines mention ellipses should generally be used when a command needs additional information from the user before the operation can execute. This is not the case for showing an about dialog so the ellipses have been removed.

Don't call wxTrap() when an assert in a non-main thread fails. As asserts are
now always enabled by default, this is not a good idea. Instead just show the
full details about the assert failure using wxMessageOutputDebug under the
platforms without MT-safe message box function (i.e. everything but MSW
currently).
Add a possibility to test an assert happening in non-main thread to the except
sample.

These tests are unnecessary now because asserts are almost always enabled. We
could test for wxDEBUG_LEVEL but the code still compiles even if it's defined
as 0 so there doesn't seem to be any need for it.

from public to protected. Adapt wxWidgets code and wxWidgets samples to always use wxWindow::GetEventHandler()
when calling such functions on a wxWindow rather than directly using wxWindow::ProcessEvent, etc.
This enables correct event dispatching to the event handlers which have been pushed (with PushEventHandler) on the
windows.
